High Fidelity Parking Assist vs. Snowman (Tesla Holiday Update)
More examples of the Holiday Update 2023 High Fidelity Parking Assist from Tesla. This is from version 2023.44.30.2, 2023.44.30.5.1, 2023.44.30.3, 2023.44.30.4, 2023.30.5.1, 2023.44.30.6, 2023.44.30.7 and 2023.44.30.8.
How well does it protect the snowman?
How does it visualize a dual garage opening?
How does it handle a VERY busy parking lot?
This is the sequel to my original video. Some references are made to the original, which can you view here:

This is a 4k/60 HDR video of one random game of JJP GNR. Nothing is cherry picked. I'm not an expert player. I do wish a more "rocking" song was selected rather than a ballad. You do get so see "Shall We Play a Game" / POPR And some Power Chord bonuses. Plus see how the flippers can hit the ramps just fine, with some nice backhands

I think my friends are the best pinball machine I’ve ever heard!
Finally! All this time I thought I played the original Area 51 in an arcade back in the 90s, but footage of the arcade version I looked at online as well as the PS1 port never looked familiar and there's a scene I remember well that I never saw in any of them. Now I know what I played was this one, because it DOES look familiar, and at 19:27 is the scene I remember. I remember it being more graphic than that, with like blood splatter everywhere instead of JUST guys strung up there, but it's an old memory and I think it has to be that. It was definitely cooler in my mind but this game's still pretty cool, so I'm glad I know which one it was for sure now.
They have one of these machines at my local bowling alley, I got annihilated first time I played but still pretty neat

Very cool video! Can you tell me where you bought it back then? Or do you know where I could find a Rocky pachinko nowadays? Thanks for your help!
Just from some guy - not an official store. There are importers of pachinko games on the web but I don’t know how easy it is to find a specific older one.
"Nice planet" is still better (IYKYK)
🤤 'promo sm'
looks like they got rid of the distance prediction.
unfortunately, the parking assist looks useless, dealbreaker for some
I found the parking assist very helpful for forward parking in a parking lot with painted lines. For rear parking, the camera views are the gold standard. For my garage, a tennis ball works the best. I haven’t tried parallel parking yet.
as useless as before. They just need a front camera and a to create a 360 degree vie with all the cameras in place
Why not just use the images from the cameras. My EV6 shows all around the car during reverse and tight parking situations when activated. Actual camera images, not some goofy 3 grade drawing of what it might see in front of it or in back of it makes much more sense. Weird.
I've been driving a Tesla M3 for many years and am usually open to new technologies. But despite all the enthusiasm, I think we should leave the church in the village. For me, what Tesla is offering here is at most a nice gimmick, because we are talking about a parking aid, i.e. a system that is supposed to help you park. If the system on offer is unsuitable for its intended purpose because it does not recognize obstacles to the front or rear, detects all sorts of things in the rain and, since the discontinuation of the USS, does not provide reliable information on distance, then for me this is not a revolutionary technology, but rather one poor parking aid with fancy graphics. If I had the choice, I would immediately swap the Tesla's computer-generated display for the system with the 360 degree camera image display including USS, which most cars have installed as standard these days. Although I don't have the wow effect when the Tesla detects any object, I do have a system that fulfills its purpose of existence almost 100% correctly and that I can trust in all weather conditions. Despite all the enthusiasm for technology, evolution always comes before revolution, but because Tesla always prefers revolution, we dummy testers now have to use our metal.
Did they remove the feature that would tell you exactly how many inches you were from the object? I miss that
yes
Sorry but this is stupid. All we needed was a Birds Eye view so we know we are centered in a lane. Using this will take forever if you keep fiddling with the display just to park a car. Like you say it tells you to stop but in reality you know better. The heat map makes it look more concerning than it really is. Thanks for making this video Though. It was useful and confirms some of my thinking
I'd gladly trade my USS for a front bumper cam. The only issue with parking generally is how far your wheels are from the curb and USS is useless for that.
How do u get this feature I have the holiday update already
My understanding is that models with USS need to wait for a later update. If you have the holiday update and don't see this feature, I assume you have a USS model
Have you used the overhead view in a newer BMW or Audi? Just curious.
This is all fine and good. The important thing that is missing is auto summon. I had enhanced auto summon on my 2018 Model 3, and I had a legitimate need for it twice. Both incidents happened in parking garages when some 'person' decided to park so close to my car that I could not open the door enough to get in. Using summon, I was able to back the car up enough to easily get in. If that ever happens with my 2023 Model Y, I'll be SOL. When I got the MY last year, I was told enhanced summon would be available 'soon'. That was 360 days ago. Don't get me wrong, I still think my Model Y is a great car and getting better with FSD, but I really miss enhanced summon.
Does the bird’s eye angle persist between uses or do you have to reposition it every time if you just want to see it from directly above and down?
Each time the "high fidelity parking assist" appears, it uses the "top down" view. If you want to rotate for some arbitrary angle, you need to do that each time.
@@madmyerstube I guess they really need to fix it from not clearing the assist view randomly while parking then if you want an angle other than top down
The front bumper camera is desperately needed. With that, I don’t think you will ever need radar
I am pretty sure that this is just a 0.9 version of the feature. Normally, the photogrammetry is able to do magic, so I am expecting to see real life textures on the surrounding objects soon in later updates.
I’m hopeful, but wouldn’t say I’m sure. There’s clearly difficulty nailing down exact distances. That’s why they’re depicted as quivering blobs.
Thanks a (parking) lot
lol. You are welcome!
Can you summon out of the parking space?
Removing the sensors was a dumb idea, they took something that worked and broke it.
I can drive and I don't have sensors 😊
@@EstebanCamacho Avoid areas with trash cans.
That’s interesting… but correct me if I’m wrong, but Teslas still don’t have a 360 camera view right? I feel like looks really cool, but seems like a more complicated way to do it than just doing a 360 cam view :P still looks pretty cool
It's a top down, literally a 360 lmao
Ya we don't have an accurate front bumper view, it'll just grab and store recent info from the windshield cam
I don’t see why that’s an lmao situation. It’s not the same to display information from cameras as it is to render your environment around you. It’s using more processing power in the car and clearly there’s more latency. Just seems like a plain or 360 camera view is a simpler option to 360 environment rendering
@@Target135 Yeah idk, you'd think Tesla would also offer a "regular" 360 camera view but they don't
Thanks. But did you really have to cover the main part of the screen? You couldn't just swipe down and have the map obscured by another screen?
Sometimes the simple solution works best. But yes, alternatives are available.
By far, the best demo of the new parking assist I’ve seen.
Thanks! I was disappointed with many of the videos I saw, which is why I decided to make this one.
Agree
You have to report the garbage can bug!
The visuals on screen look like garbage - why can't they just use 360 like everyone else - they just need to license the tech from Nissan or whatever. It will keep their customers happy.
I bet this will get better and better overtime. It’s the first iteration of of it
@@matty1614why not make it good from the first iteration? Its not like a new thing these days...
@@ROBIRUS24check out fsd and the process it’s made in visualization from when it first got ret to now. I have a feeling it will get better and better
Everything tesla does which is vision only (park assist, auto wipers, etc) works like sh!t. Why would they invent a problem that didnt exist ans try to fix it afterwards? Those USS and rain sensors cost nothing.
Nice! How wide is the entrance of your garage ?
Thanks. Doors are about 9 feet wide. Why?
@@madmyerstube From what i see it is similar with mine and I was wondering how easy world be to enter with TM3 în it. It seemed to me it was around 8 ft.😁
What I noticed is when going though drive throughs the car doesn't make all those warning sounds.
I thought you only got the sound when you reverse to warn others.
@@Uouttooo Not the outside sound the warning ones for the driver
Nice demo! 👍
Thanks!
Useless as ever. So stupid to remove the USS before having a valid replacement. Also being stupid not to pay the licensing fees for a bird's eye camera view. Tesla's unrelenting goal to build the cheapest cars every sold!
Pourquoi les autres marques ne s alignent elle pas sur le niveau d équipements pour le même prix... A équipements égale et puissance égale, les tarifs chez les concurrents sont de plusieurs milliers voir dizaine de milliers d euro de plus
Worst update ever. Come on Elon. Really?!?!?
I think the blind side warning the best part of the update.
@@Nightwing184 I agree, but still isn't better than a sensor and light on the mirror like the new Model 3 Highland has.
Well this Parking Assist with my Model Y maybe helpful, but I still don't rely on it to be 100 percent accurate. When I pull into my garage (front of car first), there is no count down to STOP anymore, and when it tells me to STOP and alarms, I am at least "2 feet" from the back wall or any objects against that wall. I do not trust or believe its accuracy and rely on my eyes to do my final STOP. I also fold my mirrors pulling into my garage. The 3D graphics of objects around the vehicle look like blobs or silhouettes of actual objects, so make your judgements on also what you see with your eyes and how close you are to them. I would say you can use this aid, but don't trust it to get right up against something. I never do back up parking with this aid, only going forward so I can see what it is doing. Use your own judgement with this tool.
This feature is truly useless. If nothing, it’s dangerous.
@@TheGrahamisaacson You do know you are responsible for driving the car? It would be dangerous to think otherwise.
Why can't I get a parking mode where all the cameras show up on my screen... that would be the most helpful for me pulling into my garage.
Similar thoughts. I think in x years or y months, a vision-based system will be better than a sensor-based, but waiting for that is a pain.
@@taunokekkonen5733 It might be nice if they added a front bumper camera if Tesla plans to do the parking assist with just visual cameras. But, I don't think they will ever do this. They are not even putting front bumper cameras on the new 2024 Highland or Juniper vehicles. I don't know if the Cyber Truck has a front bumper camera, but who wants a silly very expensive truck.
Very impressive!
Thanks. The garbage can test was very useful. Unfortunately we do need the front bumper camera to make it work.. please also do the test when it’s dark and when there is software updates. Thanks a lot
The visualisation is fantastic - shame that in this case, it only serves to highlight, in wonderful 3D, just how poor the precision of the underlying system is.
Seems to be precise enough.
If you cannot park using this, you should not be driving.
Tesla's park assist is more informative than my car with USS and birds-eye cameras. In a low curb situation like your parking lot example, USS gives no warning at all. The garbage can situation however was disappointing.
How can it be better than birds eye view of your actual surroundings?
@@chickenbonesbirds eye has lots of warping due to camera stitching, and also doesn’t give good perspective on anything not on the floor
@@chickenbones Birds eye view does not do the color coding.
Why you need colour coding when you can see everything
@@chickenbones When the kerb and the ground are of the same color and indistinguishable or when the outside is dark/pitch black, you will want this.
It is still not very useful unfortunately.
It’s way better than not having any visualization like before. It gives some idea of where your car is. Especially being able to see line markings in parking lots helps immensely.
If you cannot park using this, you should not be driving.
Bird eye view is still much better with sensors than this rubbish software. Why spend so much money on software rather than put camera in front and sensors at back and front
@@amrindersingh3949 No, birds eye is 2D. It does not tell you the curb height. This 3D solution provides much more data and it is included in the base price of a $35K car. This is a huge win for Tesla. Anyone watching the video can see for themselves how awesome this is.
@@amrindersingh3949Ty. I like my Tesla but fanboys are praising this better than a traditional 360
